My cousins lived in Belle Harbor, on a beach block. Three generations - my great aunt, her daughter - my mother’s first cousin, her husband, and the kids - two girls and then a surprise boy. I got so sunburned, and they had an outside shower to rinse off the sand. It was not a high dollar place. Both the grandma and her son-in-law worked all the time. I learned how to dive through the waves and to never turn my back on the ocean.
So beautiful. I love this piece. My father grew up in Far Rockaway. He was tall, like your mother, in a time when the members of the tribe tended to be short.
