Twinkies! I was raised on them. And Tang, Fizzies, and Sugar Smacks. My parents were obviously more worried about my being too thin than the effects of junk food. Not thin now, sorry to say.
I'm really enjoying your wonderful stories, Josh. But after reading this one, I'm left wondering what became of Grace and Jeff's kids after Jeff died. Did you ever have any contact with them?
I haven't been in contact with Grace and Jeff's kids, Leslie -- I don't really know them -- but from what I hear (from Janusz), Iris does something computer-related and Marty is a stand-up comedian and cupcake baker.
That's good to hear. I wondered about them because it seemed like they might have been fairly young when their dad died. Stand-up comedian and cupcake baker sounds like a great combination. Your writing is so engaging that I really care about the folks you write about. Keep it up!
Yes, that was Grace. The pot was a lot of Indiana hemp so it took a fair amount for even a minimal effect.

Funny and touching and, ultimately, sad. Lovely writing.
Would have loved to meet Grace! Thank you for sharing your generous appreciation of these wonderful people from your life.
Is this who Julie Faustino in Haiku Tunnel is named for?
Yes!

Another beautiful story.
Re "...did I graduate?", instead of "Don't ask", I'd insert plugs here for "Mathematics of Change" and "Citizen Josh". ;-)
