From my two seasons of hosting The Josh Kornbluth Show on KQED-TV in San Francisco (2005-’07), I recall with particular fondness my opportunity to interview two artists I greatly admire: photographer Annie Leibovitz and actress Helen Mirren — both of them for the same episode!
Each of these media superstars spoke to me in a disarmingly engaged, down-to-earth manner: Though we were spending only a short time together (a really short time with Mirren — I’d been granted exactly three minutes!), I felt, with each of them, that I was encountering the actual person, not just a superficial public persona.
