Thank you for coming back with so much to say. It helps everyone get through the mess we are living in right now. I mean it would be crazy not to be depressed wouldn't it?

One thought that sustains me, along with morning coffee, is that we will dance on ruins of MAGA. It's looking good, Orban lost today, right?

Josh this is really really something, what you wrote. I’m so glad you’re back!

Your openness and reflection on your new situation, where you are fluctuating unpredictably, was beautiful to read. You shouldn't feel as if you have to apologize for not writing for a while. Of course we want to read what you write, but it's more important that you write when you are moved to do so and have something to share. Your live performances are also a way of sharing, so it's not as though your Substack alone defines you as a productive creator. Thanks for taking us on this journey with you!

What an insight! This changes everything. Like now you’ve seen this you will never un-see it. And now you’ve shared it, we can’t un-see it either… Thank you!

Your candor about your depression is amazing: social media, advertising and popular

entertainment drive us to present ourselves as unrealistically chirpy “winners” and hide our doubts, fears and depression, and your bravery in writing about your depression so eloquently can have huge ripple effects to encourage others to not be ashamed of their sadness and depression and rather to embrace it lovingly and mindfully which can help immensely. You are a national treasure!

This is such a beautiful piece! Thank you for writing it and especially when things have felt so difficult. I know we will not give up and that includes you. Remember live performance is a beautiful example of how people are able to get strength from each other. Keep on with love.

Wonderful… thank you for being so honest about your depression… I suffer from depression and anxiety… and they come and go… but I’ve realized that thru are all parts of me and not good or bad.. I treat myself very kindly when going thru a bout.. and tell myself it’s only temporary and it will not last forever and they are feelings not facts… ♥️

This is lovely, Josh. Thank you. Our fathers shared an extraordinary optimism about human nature. I too struggle to maintain it. And yet there are so many good and kind beings all around. I love the ending of your piece. Love is the realest thing, the only thing that matters.

I've found for myself, being with other people to get out of myself helps. I sometimes feel I'm performing a version of myself in front of others, and maybe don't feel authentic, YET afterwards I do feel better. So there's something to be said about that. Thanks for letting us know what's been going on.

Thanks, Josh, for explaining what you've been going through. As far as fascism in the world, Orban's loss may be the start of a global correction. The new government will have a supermajority and will be able to reverse a lot of Orban's damage. We can hope to do that here.

Thank you for having the courage to write about this. I think we are all living in a mass state of depression at the moment due to our current regime. So if even the most joyful amongst us is feeling less so, it makes sense that those of us prone to depression descend further down than normal. Know that all of us are rooting for you.

I know that having a routine to follow is critical. A breath of fresh air. A prayer. A stretch of the body. Food. Hugs. Sleep.
