Thank you so very much!! ... My weight has gone up a bit -- but my wife insists it's all muscle! (And I _did_ lose a lot of muscle when I lost all that weight.) I'm being very diligent in logging my calorie intake and in exercising every day, so overall I think I'm in a good place.
Hey Josh, Racheli Biale recommended you to me and I'm glad she did. Glad you're back performing. Cool to hear about your project about your uncle. Hope you can avoid the red blinking lights.
Awesome! So cool that you're working with Jonathan. What an amazing collaboration that will be. I developed several of the chapters of my Africa travel memoir in Jonathan's workshop way back when. Can't wait to see what unfolds.
Lovely reflections at an opportune moment. I was born in Hartford so that view of the Capitol is memorable for me. When I visited Washington DC, I was a little shocked that the national Capitol dome wasn't gold. Citizen Brain is fabulous - leading us to empathaction - a compassionate path toward engagement that doesn't mirror the extremism of our opponents. Looking forward to seeing you in Cyrill's story. Mazel tov.
I'm sorry Ziggy and I won't be able to make your oboe performance tomorrow, which I was looking forward to. Will it be recorded? I'm getting back into classical music myself lately, playing piano in a chamber music class at the SF Community Music Center.
Ashkenaz Club? That sounds like it should be a place in speculative fiction.
Thanks once more for your thoughtful take on life.
"I’ve never really portrayed anyone else before. I’ve pretty much just played myself."
In "Ben Franklin: Unplugged" you're channeling your inner Ben.
Remember depression is just a narcissist's way of saying "it's all about me".
Josh,
How are you doing holding on to your weight loss?
Also, FWIW, whenever you are fighting depression, please remind yourself that you are very important to us, your readers and friends.

Longtime fan here. You should read your articles so we can listen on the Substack app.
Thanks for this suggestion, Sherry -- I just did it: recorded my "voiceover" of this post! Let me know what you think!
Yes, just listened to it. Excellent! You could rebuild your audience by recording parts of old material, e.g. Red Baby.
Welcome to your new life!
Josh, this is who you are NOW…
…And forever.

Wow - you and Lethem and Cyril. I can’t wait!
I love what you did there at the end, with the blinking light thing -- always love to see your genius at work!

So cool you're playing piano, Pax!! ... I think it _was_ recorded. If I can get a link, I'll let you know! (I had fun!)
I've had similar run-ins with hotel staff: they always seem to either be geniuses or utter morons, never in between
