You and Sara=thoughtful, loving souls. I keep my mother in the closet next to her sister, my beloved Aunt Jane and now, Rays Mom. Talk to each of them almost daily.
What to do with cremation ashes is always an adventure. We released my mother's ashes into a creek in northern Virginia, her stated wish. I bought a new pair of chest waders for the occasion, went out to a knee-deep riffle, and slowly poured out the box with other family members on the bank. That was different... yours is less of a production which seems to be good.
Oh yes! Tucked up on a bookshelf, surrounded by books, snuggled in amongst their warm covers and surrounded by the lovely scent of books. That is indeed a perfect place of repose for a reader.
What a perfect story. The officially marked box full of Bunny's ashes, the mysterious yellow flowers, and Sara's brilliant idea for where the beloved Reader should reside . . .
Thank you for Iris DeMent too. Yours for love & mystery! Julie
Some say they're goin' to a place called
Glory and I ain't saying it ain't a fact
But I've heard that I'm on the road to
Purgatory and I don't like the sound of that
Well, I believe in love and I live my life accordingly
Josh, such a story. I wonder if the letter carrier picked some nearby oxalis and put it there with the package. Meanwhile, thank you for linking such a sweet version of Let the Mystery Be. and I think your solution of putting ashes on the bookshelf surrounded by favorite books is brilliant.
I have my sisters ashes in a beautiful Chinese cabinet that belonged to my grandmother… she is surrounded by the remains of her beloved animals… eventually I will scatter her ashes at a lake she loved up in Lassen County, a lake where that same grandmother built a cabin in 1936🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
The world is full of surprises. The value of hope is severely underestimated.
