Somehow you managed to transport me to a place and time I never knew but now feel intimately familar with it. How do you do that, Josh?

I grew up in Queens and my grandparents were very much socialists, if not a little bit more. But we went to Camp Leah that came from the educational alliance on the lower east side. My Camp days in the summer we spent with multicultural multiracial and multi socioeconomic people. It was great. The weird thing is, that my dad once told me that he wanted to move to Long Island. But when I look back, I realized that wouldn’t have given me the perspective that I gained when I went to camp from the Lower East Side.

I loved this description--I who also grew up in a communist household but in California and in less crowded neighborhoods.
